Carl Gustav Rodde (1830-1906) - German Vedutas- and landscape painter of the Düsseldorf school
Signed ‘C. Rodde’ lower left
Dimensions: 52.5 x 80.5 cm
Mounted in gilt baroque frame: 69 x 97 cm
Provenance: Private collection, Germany
A typical veduta in Italy, where the painter sojourned regularly in the second half of the 19th century because of his Italian wife

The paint surface has darkened somewhat and shows typical craquelure and small paint losses. The inspection under UV light reveals some strokes of retouching within the depiction. The canvas has been relined and the varnish has been renewed. The frame is slightly chipped.
