Felt-tip pens on brownish firm book paper (with typographical print on verso)
Asger Jorn (1914-1973) – Danish painter and member of the international artist group CoBrA
Signed and dated ‘Jorn 64’ lower right and inscribed upper center
Sheet dimensions: 24 x 18.8 cm
Framed: 48 x 41 cm
Provenance: Private collection, Rhineland
Work in Jorn’s typical informal design vocabulary, probably created as casual drawing

The drawing is minor faded, the paper barely visible toned. There are occasional signs of wear and a tiny pin hole in each corner. On verso the sheet displays paper thinning along the edges, likely due to a former mounting. It is affixed to a support at the reverse upper corners. The overall condition is good, consistent with age. The frame bears signs of age and use.

Asger Jorn (1914-1973)

Asger Jorn was born in 1914 in Jutland, Denmark. In the beginning, he got private painting lessons. In 1936, Jorn moved to Paris to join Fernand Léger's Académie Contemporaine. Later, he was a founding member of the CoBrA-group. His paintings are close to the Informal Art and vary between figurative and abstract painting. Thematically, they are based on Nordic legends and myths. Jorn is especially known for his redesign of old pictures that he bought at flea markets. Whilst his early work shows influences of Le Corbusier, his later style is more dynamic. Asger Jorn's works have been exhibited internationally, and numerous books have been published in his honor.
